12 Rescued from Sinking Boat off Stamford, CT

The Hour reports that 12 people were rescued from a sinking cabin cruiser off Stamford’s Shippan Point, CT, late Monday afternoon, Nov. 14, after their boat struck rocks outside the harbor’s east breakwall.

Apparently, the passengers were planning to view the so-called “super moon” when the accident occurred. The unusually low tide may have played a role in the accident.

All 12 passengers had donned life jackets and were standing at the bow of the partially submerged vessel by the time emergency crews arrived. No injuries were reported.
