Blue Whale Spotted off Cape Cod

On May 6, a rare blue whale was sighted some 13 nautical miles east of Truro, Cape Cod, by the Center for Coastal Studies Right Whale Aerial Surveillance team.

Blue whales, the largest mammal on earth, and in the Northeast are most commonly found off Canada. They can grow to 100 feet in length and weigh up to 150 tons.
