1947 Film Shows Tuna Nearly Jumping into Maine Boat

A recently found film reel from 1947 shows a school of tuna nearly jumping into a fishing boat off Maine’s Mount Desert Island.

In the digitized video, a group of men use bamboo poles with hooks on the end to snag the fish and pull them into the boat. The number of fish show how bountiful the region’s waters once were.
