2 Rescued, 1 Dead in Boston Harbor Sinking

Aug 15, 2010: According to the Boston Globe, the Coast Guard has found the 3rd passenger of a swamped 21-foot boat that sank off Hull, Massachusetts, on Saturday evening, August 14. The victim died after apparently trying to swim to Graves Light, some 500 yards away, while his companions stayed with the partially submerged vessel.

The 2 people who stayed with the boat were rescued shortly after the Coast Guard received a distress call about 6:50 p.m. Tidal currents in the area were reported to be very strong, and water temperatures were in the mid-50s. The man, whom the Coast Guard did not identify, was found unresponsive in the water around 11:25 a.m. Sunday morning, approximately 3 miles east of the boat.
