Newport America’s Cup World Series Guide

The best viewing spot for the America’s Cup World Series Races (June 26-July 1) in Newport, Rhode Island, is Fort Adams State Park, overlooking the East Passage and the race course.

Aside from the sailing, there will be a host of Cup-related activities and events occurring in Fort Adams and downtown Newport leading up to the races (see below).

Fort Adams’ North Lawn will also serve as home to the Race Village, where food and drinks can be purchased during the event. The village will also feature interactive displays and exhibits from organizations ranging from sporting to research to education.

Information:

  • General admission is $10 per day; children under 12 can enter free.
  • Bring your own blanket or low-backed chair in which to watch the races.
  • Coolers, alcohol, pets and umbrellas are not allowed at the America’s Cup Village.
  • Water transportation to and from Fort Adams is available from embarkation points in Newport and Jamestown.

In Newport, a water taxi operated by Oldport Marine will shuttle between Perrotti Park on America’s Cup Avenue and Fort Adams. The taxi will run continually during the event period every 15 minutes during race days (June 28-July 1) and every 30 minutes on non-race days (June 23-27).   • One-way: $5
  • Round-trip: $10
  • All day, unlimited: $17_

A separate water taxi will run to Fort Adams from Conanicut Marine in Jamestown. A VIP ticket will cost $26.50 and includes reserved parking, RT busing to waterfront and round-trip ferry ticket (and on-line fee).
