300-Pound Loggerhead Rescued on Cape Cod
November 21, 2014
CapeCodOnline: After hearing about hundreds of endangered sea turtles washing ashore on Cape Cod Bay beaches, Jennifer Robbie decided she’d walk the Eastham shoreline Thursday morning looking for any among the dead marsh grass at the high tide mark.
Robbie, who lives in Harwich, found 3 small endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles, but then spotted a beast of an entirely different magnitude just south of Cole Road Beach. Floating in the shallows, nudged shoreward by the waves, was what is believed to be the largest loggerhead turtle ever to come ashore in Massachusetts.
