5 Rescued After Sailboat Capsizes off Beavertail Point

Five sailors were rescued when their 32′ catamaran capsized during a race off Beavertail Point on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 31.
Three of the crew were found holding onto the hull of the 32’ sailing vessel and 2 others were swimming in the water when a Coast Guard response boat from Castle Hill Station in Newport arrived on scene after 1:00 p.m., according to a Coast Guard news release.
All 5 were taken on board the Coast Guard vessel, which towed the catamaran to Dutch Harbor in Jamestown.
No injuries were reported.
