6 Steps for Avoiding Great White Sharks

The Cape Cod National Seashore has issued a list of 6 safety tips for keeping paddlers, swimmers and surfers safe from great white sharks this summer. They are as follows:
- Do not swim near seals
- Swim close to shore, where your feet can touch the bottom
- Swim, paddle, kayak and surf in groups
- Do not swim alone in the ocean at dawn or dusk, avoid isolation
- Limit splashing and do not wear shiny jewelry
- Follow the instructions of lifeguards, beach signage and the beach flag warning system
