Bayliner 192 Discovery Ready for Family Fun
March 2, 2011
The 192 Discovery from Bayliner is a compact, versatile, entry-level family boat for lakes and inshore waters. The boat is priced attractively and features a lot of features and a surprising amount of space for a 19-footer. The large cockpit seats 5, while the cuddy cabin can sleep 2 adults or 3 kids. The cabin also holds a porta potty and features a large overhead hatch for letting in plenty of light and air. A Bimini top is optional, as is a full camper enclosure for overnighting or boating on rainy days.
The deep cockpit is surrounded by tall gunwales to give you more peace of mind when kids are on board. The passenger seat and aft-facing jumpseat fold down to form a comfortable lounge (or bed). A large in-deck compartment on the centerline will hold bulky items, from wakeboards to lifejackets. Access to the bow is gained via the center section of the wraparound windshield. The sturdy, stainless steel bow rail provides a firm handhold when moving forward to anchor, handle dock lines or grab a mooring.
The 192 comes with a trailer, power steering, tilt steering wheel, swim step with retracting ladder, and a waterproof 120-watt satellite-ready AM/FM stereo with iPod and MP3 port.
Standard power is a 135-hp MerCruiser Alpha I sterndrive. Top speed with this power is 37 mph, according to the manufacturer. Cruise is around 27 mph, for a range of around 83 miles (plus 10% reserve).
