Block Island’s Albion Pub Closes

Block Island Times: According to Wikipedia, Albion is the oldest known name for the island of Great Britain, possibly referring to the white cliffs of Dover.
On Block Island, the Albion was a pub on Ocean Avenue, named for the late Albion Slate, where locals and tourists mingled over beer in dim light at a long dark wooden bar since 1993.
Now, after recent renovations and repositioning as a more modern restaurant and bar, the Albion has closed, the space it was in sold and the name retired. The Albion’s last day of business was Monday, Valentine’s Day.
