Boater Finds Body on Penobscot River

Bangor Daily News reports that Bangor police and firefighters on Saturday, June 23, recovered a man’s body from the Penobscot River, near the mouth of Kenduskeag Stream.

A boater found the body at 2:30 p.m., when it floated to the surface near the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge, beside the Sea Dog restaurant.

The location where the body was found is about a quarter mile from where a 22-year-old Bangor man fell into frozen Kenduskeag Stream on March 2. The man’s body was never recovered.

Officials are hoping that an autopsy will reveal the identification of the body.
