Boating Safety, Activity Discussed in Norwalk, CT
December 13, 2010
The Hour is reporting that boating safety and protecting Norwalk Harbor were among the topics addressed at the 16th Annual State of the Harbor Meeting at City Hall on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
“We specifically spoke to safety aspects and the changing rules by DEP (Department of Environmental Protection). There’s changes to what type of life preservers can be worn,” Tony D’Andrea, Norwalk Harbor Management Commission chairman, was quoted as saying. D’Andrea was referring to the new law that requires kayakers to wear a PFD after Oct. 1.
Harbormaster Michael Griffin reported that use of city’s boat launches and the visitor’s docks at the David S. Dunavan Boating Center had increased despite the poor economy. He said that this has boosted tourism to Norwalk and the SoNo area.
