BoatUS Offers Free Online Boating-Safety Course
December 21, 2010
The BoatUS Foundation has unveiled a free online boating-safety learning center on its website. The site uses animation, video and interactive activities designed to make learning about boating and boating safety easier and more effective. According to BoatUS.org, the information presented on the site was gathered in partnership with the National Safe Boating Council, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and many boating professionals.
The site allows users to choose the boating-safety course based on their state of choice (boating-safety requirements vary considerably from state to state). In some cases, passing the selected course may satisfy the safety requirements of the state. If so, a valid boating-safety certificate can be issued by BoatUS. Users may then print the certificate to show proof of education to a state boating agency. A few states charge a small fee to issue their own boating safety card or document, and some, including Massachusetts, do not recognize the BoatUS course.
