Boston Navy Week Set to Roll

Twenty U.S. and coalition ships will participate in Boston Navy Week, a celebration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, from June 28 to July 6. The U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, National Oceanographic Administration (NOAA), along with coalition navy and tall sailing ships will arrive at various times and locations beginning June 28 and will open for general public visitation throughout the week.

In addition to public visitation of the ships, there will be a number of public events, including performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the Leapfrogs, the Navy’s parachute demonstration team. You can see the event schedule HERE.

A celebration of the nation’s sea services, Boston Navy Week provides an opportunity for the citizens of Boston and New England to meet sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as see, firsthand, the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services.

This year, Boston Navy Week is one of the signature events around the country commemorating OpSail 2012, the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner. The commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 is a salute to all sailors and marines who fought in that conflict.
