Cabela’s Captains Fishing Seminars This Sunday

The Cabela’s store in Berlin, MA, is hosting a special Sunday (Feb. 28) full of informative how-to fishing seminars. Among them are:

Fishing the Vineyard Predators

A must-see for anybody interested in saltwater angling. Presented by Captain Phil Cronin of Capawock Charters, this interactive PowerPoint show will take you from the arrival of schoolie stripers in April through the departure of fall trophies in November.

Captain Cronin, a 40-year veteran of Vineyard fishing, covers the four prominent predatory species found around Martha’s Vineyard: striped bass, bluefish, Atlantic bonito, and false albacore. Featuring an exciting array of photographs and videos, the derby-winning captain discusses equipment, fly and lure selection, tides and locations.

Whether your interest is fishing from a boat or along the beach, Fishing the Vineyard Predators will wet your angling appetite and prepare you for the upcoming season.

Light-Tackle Tube-and-Worm Trolling

Join Captain Robbie Briggs from Seaduced Fishing Charters as he discusses light-tackle tube-and-worm trolling techniques. The tube and worm is a proven technique for big stripers in the Northeast and you don’t need heavy tackle to be successful.

An Introduction to Fishing for Kids (and Adults Who Want to Feel Like Kds)

Capt. Steve Kirk will give kids and parents all the information they need to know to start fishing this spring. His talk will cover the benefits of fishing, what tackle you need to get started, techniques, and tips on numerous nearby fresh and saltwater fishing locations in Massachusetts. While his talk is oriented to beginners, he will also include tips for novice, intermediate, and advanced anglers.

Capt. Kirk is a Coast Guard-licensed charter captain, the chairman of the Concord Rod and Gun Club fishing committee, and a member of the American Sportfishing Assn.  He is also the team leader for Project Healing Waters, a fly-fishing program for disabled veterans, at the Bedford MA VA hospital.
