Cape Cod Boater Charged with BUI After Grounding on Island

CapeCodOnline: A Marstons Mills man is charged with operating his 30’ motorboat under the influence of alcohol after the vessel ran aground early Saturday on Sampson’s Island [off Cotuit, Massachusetts].
Richard Panton, 51, had trouble standing, smelled strongly of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, according to Barnstable officer Kevin Fullam, who questioned Panton about what happened while he was piloting his Sea Ray motorboat earlier.
