Cape Cod Boatyard Blaze Injures Firefighters

An early morning fire at a boatyard in Marstons Mills on Cape Cod left three local firefighters with injuries. According to a report in the Cape Cod Times, people reported seeing smoke and then flames coming from a building at Peck’s Boats Inc. at around 6 a.m. Firefighters reportedly found the fire was on the exterior of the shed and extended to the attic.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes. However, one firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a back injury, while two others suffered minor injuries. According to the report, the fire caused an undetermined amount of damage to the 58-by-25-foot shed. Officials say the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
