Cape Cod Kettle Pond Largemouth Bass Lures & Tackle
June 12, 2017
While most anglers associate Cape Cod with saltwater species such as stripers, bluefish and tuna, there’s plenty of freshwater action to be had in the Cape’s numerous kettle ponds. These glacial-formed waterbodies are filled with largemouth bass, as well as trout, pickerel and other panfish, and make a great option when conditions make it tough to fish the ocean.
In late May 2016, I fished Slough Pond in Brewster with Chris Nashville of Goose Hummock Shops. We caught plenty of bass and pickerel that morning, and I learned a lot about the somewhat underappreciated kettle pond fishery, including some of Nashville’s go-to lures and tackle.
