The Cape Cod Maritime Museum is offering a new 2-day class called “Shape Your Own Stand-Up Paddleboard.” The class will be taught by Cape Cod’s own Shawn Veccione using traditional wood-blank shaping tools in the museum’s boatbuilding shop.

The 2-day shaping class will begin November 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and includes a lecture on board design and hydrodynamic performance Saturday night. On Sunday November 9, class will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Shawn incorporates sustainable materials into his eco-friendly surfboard production, and each student will shape and finish his or her own wood blank.  At the end of the class, each student’s board will be completed by a professional glasser working with Shawn. The cost is $2,400 for materials, instruction, and the lecture. The completed board will be the property of each student.
