CG Medivacs Boater Near East Haven, CT

A Coast Guard Station New Haven 25-foot rescue boat crew medically evacuated a 48-year old man from aboard his 24-foot boat off East Haven, CT, at about 6:30 p.m., Thursday.

The Coast Guard rescue crew was sent out to the boater’s location approximately 1500 yards from Lighthouse Point Park, East Haven, after receiving a distress call from the boater at 6:10 p.m., reporting that he was experiencing chest pains.

After the Coast Guard safely transferred the man and his friend from the vessel, a local commercial salvage operator towed the vessel to safety.

“We were able to respond quickly to provide the medical attention this boater required,” said Coast Guard Petty Officer 1stClass Anthony Kozak.  “The boater was brought to Saint Raphael Hospital in New Haven for medical attention where he was last listed in stable condition.”
