Burlington Free Press: Burlington [Vermont] voters have authorized the city to borrow up to $9.6 million for a major overhaul of the Lake Champlain waterfront, and changes could begin showing up as early as this fall.

The largest of the 6 projects — a nonprofit organization’s plan for transforming the former Moran Plant into an event and art space, restaurant and nanobrewery and more — will likely take at least a couple of years to become reality, Mayor Miro Weinberger said Tuesday night [March 4]. Burlington plans to contribute about $6.3 million, using its waterfront tax increment financing (TIF) district, out of a total estimated $26 million project cost.
