Charter Captain Who Ran Over Boat Gets Plea Agreement

The Newburyport News reports that charter captain Gary Morin of Haverhill, MA, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors on Friday, April 17, over the July 2014 accident in which Morin ran over an anchored boat in the mouth of the Merrimack River, forcing the occupants to jump overboard.

Morin, 60, a retired firefighter from Haverhill, was charged with 2 counts of unsafe operation of a motorboat. On the first count, Morin’s case was continued without finding for a year and he was ordered to pay a $50 fine. The other charge was dismissed.
