Chatham Pier Repairs Studied

Cape Cod Times: The town [of Chatham] recently signed a contract with Coastal Engineering Company of Orleans to do a feasibility and engineering assessment of the Eldredge and Stage Harbor Yacht Club piers. The assessment will determine how much repair work is needed and to provide additional information on what a future renovated facility would look like.

In May 2016, town meeting voters authorized paying $1.3 million from cash reserves for the pier, which had been owned by the Eldredge family for nearly 60 years, as well as $200,000 for design and engineering services. At this past spring’s town meeting, voters also approved an $11.36 million capital bond project for waterfront infrastructure to fish pier and waterfront projects, including renovation of the Eldredge pier.
