Coast Guard Airlifts Sick Crewman from Container Ship

A Coast Guard aircrew from Air Station Cape Cod airlifted a 55-year-old crewmember of a container ship on Saturday, June 25, after he was reported to have possibly suffered a heart attack 75 miles southeast of Nantucket.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. Saturday, watchstanders at the First Coast Guard District command center in Boston were notified by the captain of the German-flagged container ship Hanjin Baltimore of the medical emergency.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod launched to airlift the patient, and arrived on scene at around 2:00 p.m.

The aircrew hoisted the patient aboard, and transported him to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, arriving around 3:20 p.m.
