Coast Guard Chatham station will receive a 24’ aluminum rescue vessel that should allow for rescues on remote beaches and islands that are inaccessible to the standard 42’ rescue vessels, according to the Cape Cod Times.

The new vessel is being given to Station Chatham by a Coast Guard Station on Lake Tahoe, CA, and features twin outboards fastened to jackplates on the transom that allow the engines to be raised and lowered vertically. With the outboards raised, the boat can operate efficiently in water as shallow as 17”.
