Conn. Power Plant Leaks Oil into LI Sound

The Hour reports that a malfunction in the oil tank ventilation system at the NRG Energy, Inc. power plant on Manresa Island in Norwalk, Connecticut, caused a small amount of oil to leak into Long Island Sound on Tuesday.

Lori Neuman, a spokeswoman for the power plant, was quoted as saying that between 1 and 10 gallons of turbine lubricating oil leaked from a roof drain into a discharge canal that leads to Long Island Sound.
“It produced a light sheen that has been dissipated,” she said.
