CT Bill Raises Drunk Boating Penalties

New Haven Register: A 2009 fatal boat crash has prompted the Connecticut General Assembly to pass legislation strengthening penalties and evidence collection in drunken boating cases.

The Senate voted on the bill June 3, and the House of Representatives agreed to it June 6, just in time for the summer boating season. It now awaits Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s signature.

The Environment Committee pushed the bill through with support from the state Department of Environmental Protection, according to Sen. Edward Meyer, D-Guilford, committee chairman.
