CT Boater Threatens to Burn Marina During Storm

New Haven Register: Not only did David Zaccaria fail to heed mandatory evacuation notice to shoreline residents Saturday, he decided the best place to wait out Hurricane Irene would be on his boat, authorities said.

But when a representative of Port Milford told Zaccaria, 45, of Vought Place, Stratford, it was “not safe” to stay on his boat, Zaccaria allegedly pushed him to the ground, almost causing him to fall into the water, said Officer Jeffrey Nielsen, police spokesman.

Zaccaria then decided to make a bad situation potentially much worse when he also allegedly poured 6 gallons of gasoline onto the dock, and threatened to set the marina ablaze, Nielsen said.
