CT Boating Laws Under Scrutiny
January 4, 2015
The Day reports that a legislative delegation in Connecticut, moved by the August, 2014, tubing death of a Greenwich High School honors student, wants the General Assembly to take a closer look at the state’s boating laws.
One delegate, Drew Marzullo, apparently wants the state to bring the boating licensing requirements in line with requirements for obtaining a driver’s license. Marzullo says that a boat powered by an engine can be just as dangerous as a car, if not more, so because of the risk of drowning. He also suggested that the state consider requiring protective covers or cages on propeller blades.
