TheDay.com: The state Republican lawmakers’ budget plan eliminates money to operate the state’s 2 ferries while suggesting privatization as an alternative.

First Selectman Ralph Eno said it would never work.

“If a private company were to run (the Chester-Hadlyme ferry), the fares would be so high that nobody would ride it but rich Republicans,” Eno said Tuesday night. “And, by the way, I am a Republican, but I’m not that rich.”
