Damaged “Pirate Ship” Awaiting Repairs in Gloucester
May 6, 2015
The damaged tall ship, a Canadian schooner that masquerades as a pirate ship for charters, is moored at Rose Marine off Main Street, awaiting repairs. The Liana’s Ransom was towed to Gloucester after high seas and mechanical issues forced the crew to jump ship around 50 miles off the city’s coast. They had called for and were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard early on March 30.
The original plan was to tow the Liana’s Ransom to Eliot, Maine, for repairs, but Capt. Ryan Tilley said he believes Gloucester is better suited for the work.
