Daytrip Destination: Scituate Harbor, MA

If you haven’t visited Scituate Harbor by boat, you might be pleasantly surprised. The harbor is easy to access from Cape Cod Bay, and offers a minimum depth of 10 feet throughout the inner-harbor channel. For trailer-boaters, the harbor also boasts an excellent (and free) all-tide launch ramp, with plenty of parking, a tie-up float, and a short (1/4-mile) no-wake zone to open water. Provincetown and Boston are both within easy daytrip distance (roughly 20 nm).

Transient boaters can arrange for a mooring or slip via the local marinas (Scituate Harbor Marina, Mill Wharf Marina and Scituate Boat Works), the Scituate Yacht Club, or the Scituate Harbormaster’s Office. All monitor VHF Channel 9. Reservations are recommended, and launch service is available to and from the moorings.

If you want to visit the town, you can tie up in front of TK O’Malley’s Restaurant for $5 per hour (maximum three-hour stay) while you grab a bite to eat or visit the local shops and restaurants. And there are plenty of both just steps from the harbor!
