Dockside Dining: Brant Point Grill, Nantucket
In July 2013, while filming the Nantucket episode of New England Boating TV, co-host Tom Richardson and I had the pleasure of dining at the Brant Point Grill at the White Elephant Resort, right around the corner from Brant Point Light. If you’re looking to have a satisfying meal on Nantucket, few restaurants can beat this place. The view is gorgeous, and the menu is “off the charts.”

While sitting on the covered terrace, we savored the distinctively sweet scent of the Nantucket air and the gentle ocean breeze. Because Tom and I both love boats, we particularly enjoyed the unobstructed views of historic Nantucket Harbor and the ebb and flow of yachts just beyond the restaurant’s manicured grounds.
We started our dining experience with a Lobster Bloody Mary. This unique take on the beloved drink was incredibly good. In lieu of the traditional celery stalk, Brant Point Grill serves its Bloody Mary with a fully loaded skewer of lobster claws. The drink was truly decadent. The combination of fresh tomato and tangy spices with the succulent lobster was magical.
From that moment forward, we were presented with one culinary delight after another, including the Harborside Raw Bar Tower, which was overflowing with Duxbury oysters, clams, jumbo prawns, king crab legs, lobster salad and ahi tuna tartare.
We also tasted the delicious lobster crab cakes with a roasted red pepper aioli, and were pleased with the perfectly cooked surf and turf for 2 that consisted of a 16-ounce aged rib eye and a 2-pound grilled Maine lobster. Other delectable items sampled included the New England lobster salad, the clam chowder and lobster roll “lunch box”, and the grilled ahi flatbread.
For fabulous food and a fantastic view, there’s no question that I would recommend the Brant Point Grill. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as an afternoon bar menu, Sunday brunch and Friday raw bar. Average prices for a main course run $26-$39.
