“Don” Disaster Documentary Debuts in Bath, Maine

The Maine Maritime Museum of Bath, Maine, will debut a Maine-produced documentary about a 1941 boating disaster in Casco Bay that claimed 35 lives will be shown publicly for the first time at the museum on Saturday, March 5.

GONE: the Mystery of the Don Disaster explores the circumstances surrounding one of New England’s worst boating disasters—the disappearance of the Harpswell, Maine-based pleasure craft Don during a return trip from Monhegan Island.

No wreckage was ever found and only 14 bodies of the 35 people on board were ever recovered. The director/producer and actors will be present to discuss the making of the film and answer questions.
