East Hampton “Jet Ski Proposal” Sparks Debate

According to the East Hampton Star, the East Hampton Town Board is considering lifting a ban that prohibits the launching of personal watercraft (PWC’s) in several harbors. Those in favor of allowing Jet Skis, WaveRunners and the like to use town launching areas say that the operators of PWC’s are entitled to the same access afforded other small craft, such as kayaks, canoes, and increasingly popular stand-up paddleboards. Naturally, plenty of people oppose the proposal, citing PWC’s as dangerous and noisy.
