Exeter, NH, Dam to be Removed
June 27, 2016
Seacoast Online: The face of Exeter’s historic downtown is about to change in a big way as the removal of the Great Dam begins in a little more than a week.
The project is the culmination of close to a decade’s work by town officials and volunteers, and was cemented in a 2014 Town Meeting vote of 1,440 to 753. Voters authorized $1.8 million for the removal of the landmark to restore the river to its original condition, protect the town from flooding and facilitate fish migration.
