Feds Attempt to Close Maine State Park
January 2, 2017
Maine’s Cobscook Bay State Park may indeed be a “state” park. But the federal government owns the land the park and its boat launch sit on, and — because of the government shutdown — officials have tried to close the park, much to the chagrin of fishermen.
According to an article on PressHerald.com, officials from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have notified fishermen that the park and its boat launch are closed. On Monday (October 14, 2013), officials erected barricades, which locals reportedly moved.
