Firefighting Efforts Could be Killing Fish

Efforts to battle a large brushfire at a Connecticut farm appear to have damaged a nearby brook, killing a large number of fish, according to an article in the New Haven Register.
A fire erupted from a 70-foot high pile of brush at Borelli Farm in North Branford, Connecticut, on April 10. As of this past weekend, the fire was still smoldering. However, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, runoff from fighting the fire appears to have damaged the water quality of Eight-Mile Brook, and more than 100 fish have recently been found dead.
