Fireworks Barge Catches Fire off Salisbury Beach

Newburyport News: State officials plan to take administrative action against a fireworks company after a fire broke out last night on a barge that served as the fireworks’ launchpad.
According to the state fire marshal’s office, the Salisbury barge fire was due to trash left on the barge, which ignited. This is fire code violation and the shooter will be called in for an administrative hearing at the Department of Fire Services. The State Fire Marshal issues certificates of competency to fireworks shooters in Massachusetts.
A barge is often anchored off Salisbury Beach during the summer as a platform for firing off fireworks.
