A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew medically evacuated a man from a fishing boat about 85 miles south of Nantucket on Friday, Oct. 16.

Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England received a call from the crew of the Alexis Martina saying their captain was ill and needed medical attention.

The Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended an immediate medevac, prompting the launch of a helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Cape Cod.

Once on scene, the air crew safely hoisted the man from the vessel to the helicopter and flew him to Hyannis Airport. From there he was transferred to an awaiting EMS crew, who transported him to Cape Cod Hospital. No word was given on the victim’s status.
