Fisherman Airlifted Off Maine

The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 48-year-old fisherman from a commercial fishing vessel at about 10:15 a.m., approximately 90 miles southeast of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, on Monday, September 19.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England received a call at 8:00 a.m. Monday via VHF channel 16 from the 44’ fishing vessel Rachel T, homeported in Portland, Maine, reporting that the vessel’s captain was suffering from severe abdominal pain and vomiting.
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew was launched and safely hoisted the man.

He was taken to Maine Medical Center, in Portland, Maine. His condition is unknown.
