Fishing Vessel, Center Console Collide off New Bedford

 

SouthCoastToday: A 65-year-old city man suffered head injuries in a collision at sea Wednesday morning [July 12] with the fishing vessel Reflection, authorities said.

The skipper of the 19’ Marta and Gina, who was not identified, was brought to Pier 3 on the city’s waterfront by the New Bedford Fire Department’s boat and then transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital, according to Major Pat Moran of the state Environmental Police.

The collision with the fishing vessel Reflection, based in New Bedford, happened about 9:50 a.m. at Phinney’s Ledge in the shipping channel outside New Bedford Harbor, he said. The fishing vessel contacted the Coast Guard and reported it had been involved in an accident with a small pleasure craft.
