Massachusetts saltwater anglers are encouraged to enter their notable catches in the state’s annual Saltwater Fishing Derby.

Entries are due by November 30.

Eligible species include everything from sharks and tuna to flounder and sea bass.

The derby runs from January 1 through November 30 each year and is open to all age groups.

Fish entered must be caught in a fair and sporting manner on hook and line and must be weighted at an official weigh station on a certified scale (a list of official weigh stations can be found by CLICKING HERE).

If the catch exceeds the weight listed on the current list of Massachusetts Saltwater Game Fish Records, you may qualify for a special award

The derby also includes a catch-and-release division. Catch and release anglers should fill out and send in the affidavits themselves. Eligible species and minimum lengths are: Bluefish (35”), striped bass (45”); winter flounder (19”), fluke (24”), false albacore (26”) and cod (42”).
