The 15th Annual Boston Harbor Striper Shootout, Boston’s longest-running, 1-day saltwater fishing tournament is set for Saturday, June 15, 2013.
Cash prizes totaling $5,000 and merchandise will be awarded for the 10 longest stripers over 34”, with a $3,000 cash prize going to the angler who catches the first-place bass. Fishing area ranges from the Cape Ann down to Scituate, and stripers can be taken on bait or lures.
The event kicks off with a Captains Meeting and barbecue on Friday, June 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Admiral’s Hill Marina in Chelsea, where there will be raffle prizes, tee-shirts, and more.
Fishing commences at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, and fish entered in the contest will be measured until 5:00 p.m. at Admiral’s Hill.
Proceeds of the tournament will be again donated to the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea, a recognized institution run by the Massachusetts Dept. of Health & Human Services that provides long-term care and other support services for U.S. military veterans. For more information visit MassGov/Che.
Boat entry fee is $250, which includes Captains entry to the dinner on the 14th ($25 a person otherwise) and up to 4 anglers for the fishing on the 15th.
