Just about a year ago, Hugh Durham of Waterford [CT] tossed his fishing line into Niantic Bay not far from his home, and ended up reeling in one for the record books.

“It was the first black grouper to be landed in Connecticut,” said Durham of his 1-pound, 4-ounce fish, caught in the warm waters near the discharge pipe for the Millstone Power Station, one of his favorite spots. “It was really, really exciting.”
