The Concord Rod & Gun Club will host a free seminar to include tips on fly fishing the Nissitissit and Squannacook rivers, as well as how to fish from kayaks in the Northeast.

The presentations will take place Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Concord Rod and Gun Club, 74 Strawberry Hill Rd., Concord, MA 01742.

Kayak Fishing Details:

Eric Harrison, who writes the monthly Kayak Corner column for On The Water magazine, will discuss the great kayak fishing opportunities in the Northeast. Eric will demonstrate the effectiveness of the kayak as a fishing tool by walking (or paddling) through the 2013 fishing season. Kayak fishing tactics for everything from weakfish, carp, and lake trout to large striped bass will be reviewed. For last 10 years Eric has been a hardcore kayak fisherman, focusing on Boston Harbor and the North Shore as well as the fresh waters all over New England.

Nissitisset/Squannacook Details:

Charlie Shadan owns the Evening Sun Fly Shop in Pepperell. Charlie’s presentation includes a video that shows a unique above- and below-water perspective of both the Nissitissit and Squannacook rivers. His presentation will provide the audience with an effective introduction to fishing these rivers covering accessibility, parking, types of fish, state and volunteer-assisted trout stocking, and some of the more productive holes. In addition, Charlie will discuss effective fly patterns and equipment that will help novices and veterans alike land more fish.

Seminar is free and open to the public.
