Keeper Striper Taken in December on Cape Cod
Goose Hummock Shop in Orleans, Massachusetts, reports on the remarkable angling achievements of their repeat customer, known only as “Dave.”
Some of you may remember last February when we posted some pics on the website of this guy with about a half-dozen keeper-size stripers. We had quite a bit of email feedback that this was (A) a fluke or (B) a hoax.
Well, on December 1, 2012, Dave showed up at the shop and said, “I want to show you something out in my truck.” I looked in the bed and saw a very fat 36” striper, in great condition with its gills still flapping.
On a date that conventional wisdom says that all the big stripers are down south in their wintering grounds, this guy goes out and catches them.
I guess it proves the old adage that “the best time to fish is when you can.” I am sure he will again bring in some big fish in January and February if the weather cooperates. Stay tuned!
