Fisherman Bob Cloutier landed an enormous thresher shark on the Newburyport, Massachusetts waterfront recently that was just a few pounds shy of the state’s all-time record for thresher sharks, according to an article in the Salem Evening News.
On Saturday afternoon (August 17, 2013), Cloutier’s Newburyport-based charter boat was about 60 miles off the local coast when Cloutier said his nephew Zach Cloutier hooked a fish that instantly caught their attention — a 609-pound thresher shark.
