According to Nashoba Publishing, the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife is proposing regulations that would prohibit the trapping chubsuckers, shiners and other popular freshwater baitfish. The regulations would also outlaw the commercial sale of eels, carp, suckers and shiners taken from inland waters. However, it would not affect the sale of farm-raised bait.
According to state officials, the proposed regulations are aimed at reducing the spread of disease and invasive species.
