On January 17, Maine Representative Paul Davis introduced legislation that would prohibit the use of all “rubber” lures for recreational fishing.
The legislation seeks to ban the use of “rubber” baits, although the definition of “rubber” is ill defined. Even so, Maine’s sportfishing industry and recreational anglers are concerned that passage of the bill would make it illegal to use the highly effective soft-plastic lures so popular in fresh and salt water.
